Yeah, the misogyny has been really ... upsetting to put it mildly. I always liked the way that Uhura and Spock flirted and fought in TOS, and thought that Chapel, whom I liked overall, was too wimpy and starry eyed around Spock. Uhura, who seemed to confound and charm him, really had a spark with him. I was totally unspoiled for the reboot (I expected to HATE it) and I squealed (truly) in the movie theatre when I realized that they were going for it between Spock and Uhura. I still think it's an awesome idea.

I've got the novelization on audiobook, but found it too distracting to read and listen at the same time. Luckily, there are people who will tell me things (like the scene of the tech being swept away) that I can toss in there to be accurate, or some such.

Anyway. Yay for Uhura!
