Howdy!

I'm going to have to figure out how to update my links, as I'm moving this account and all of my fics fully to Dreamwidth. It's so sad. The community that I found on LJ was truly just phenomenal. But I can't support a platform that so blatantly is restricting speech for non-USians, so ... time to delete.

Please bear with me as I try to figure this platform out, as well. It'll be a work in progress as I move all of my links!!

I'm so ...

completely psyched for ST: Beyond. I really, really, am.

Bones and Jim in a bar on Jim's birthday!

:: wipes away a tear ::

I feel all validated and junk!

Also, reading that Karl Urban has been cast in Thor: Ragnarok reminds me to find that Marvelverse smash up I referred to in a recent entry. I won't have to make it a Doom verse story, after all, perhaps. It could just be a straight up Marvel/ST smash, that would create some really, really interesting parallels.

I'm so excited!

Haven't cracked open a screen on this LJ in about a billion years.

OK, maybe it's only two, but wow. I'm feeling somewhat inspired by [livejournal.com profile] space_wrapped stories, and this great Doom crossover fic and I've got a vacation coming up. I may just break out some of my more crack-addled crossover ideas out and take them for a spin. Not sure I'm ready to jump back into the Switch-verse as yet, but maybe if I do something completely different, it'll jumpstart me.

I've got two massive story ideas that I never posted.

The first is called Loyalty, and I really can't explain anything about it without spoiling it, except to say that I've always believed that the AOS-verse is a much darker universe than TOS. So, the premise is that TOS Spock crashing into the AOS verse and Nero following him changes significantly more than just the events of that movie. It breaks off before ST:ID ever happens, and follows a much different path. It grew out of a long-lost story idea from one of the kink-memes that really mutated.

I'll have to pull it back out and look at it, but the one I'm really motivated to find again is the one I think I called the Crack-Addled Crossover in my notes folder. It's a mash-up of Doom and Marvelverse stuff, mostly because I couldn't get over the idea that George Kirk was really Thor because ... lightning in space?

There are also plenty of times in both the Marvelverse, and in the Norse tradition, where Odin makes one of his sons mortal to teach them a lesson, or something. So, a Thor who doesn't know he's Thor? An incursion between realms that invokes the power of Thor, etc., Thor's self-sacrifice (and abiding live for mortal scientists) and ... wee baby Jim. Who grows up knowing other Marvelverse heroes, which I won't spoil here.

And then there's Bones, who is an altered human. I was going to make him the first Augment, and connect that to Doom, and go on from ST:ID, and ... I may just start sketching something out to please myself, to prove that I can actually still write something that isn't for my job.

I'm so glad the fandom is starting to wake up, me included. I know a lot of folks weren't happy about the trailer, but me? I'm inspired.

I hope.

Title: Platinum 1/1
Author: [livejournal.com profile] ceres_libera
Rating: PG-13
Pairings: Kirk/McCoy, others
Warnings: None
Word Count: ~4000
Characters: Established McCoy/Kirk, with appearances by a raft of ST:XI characters, a couple of OCs, and some shamelessly stolen TOS/book canon characters.

Summary: Leo and Jim celebrate their 20th wedding anniversary. A very, very, very belated Switchverse fill of a prompt from [livejournal.com profile] abigail89 for the Jim and Bones comm's Anniversary Challenge.

I shouldn't have started posting a story just before my life became impenetrably busy, but it worked before when I was writing Switch and I thought it would work again, that I'd be disciplined enough to write every night. However, I didn't count on the fact that I'd be working six days a week, and sick to boot. With a massive project wrapping up, I hope to have more time now, so ... my apologies, and I hope to post to Family soon.

Title: Family 2/?
Author: [livejournal.com profile] ceres_libera
Rating: R (for language and sexual expression)
Pairings: Kirk/McCoy, Spock/Uhura, others
Warnings: None
Word Count: ~4900 for this part
Characters: Established McCoy/Kirk, with appearances by a raft of ST:XI characters, and a few OCs.
Summary: Gaila has lost her family before. She will not lose another one, not without a fight.

Author’s Note: So … a bit more difficult to get back in the swing of writing when work is a bit of a disaster, but still … better late than never! As before, I note that Family is the long-missing third story in the Switch-verse, and I don’t suppose that what happens in Fidelity (or Family II) , the upcoming fifth story, will make much sense otherwise. You don’t have to be familiar with the previous stories, but it will most likely help. This is a story written from Gaila’s POV, and will likely be 2-3 more parts. I think.

Word Count: ~3800 for this part
Characters: Established McCoy/Kirk, with appearances by a raft of ST:XI characters, and a few OCs.
Summary: Gaila has lost her family before. She will not lose another one, not without a fight.

Author’s Note: Happy New Year! One of my resolutions is to get myself back into the habit of writing after a too long fallow period. Switch verse, based in the ST:XI universe, but strongly influenced by all canon ST-verses. Family is the long-missing third story in the Switch-verse, and I don’t suppose that what happens in Fidelity (or Family II) , the upcoming fifth story, will make much sense otherwise. You don’t have to be familiar with the previous stories, but it will most likely help. This is a story written from Gaila’s POV. I am, of course, tempted to say that it will be between three and five parts, but ... I make no promises.

ETA This will update onto AO3 later today when I get home from the family gathering for which I'm currently late.

I've already told the mods, so now I have to admit the truth: I'm going to be very, very late. My hope is to start posting my story in the next few days. It, uh, may be a multi-part kind of thing. Actually, it's likely that it will be multi-part, set in the Switch-verse. I may post a teaser intriguing snippet at some point, but right now, am just here to abjectly apologize for just not being able to pull this off this year. Mea culpa.

Word Count: ~17,000
Characters: Established McCoy/Kirk, with appearances by a raft of ST:XI characters, and a few OCs.

Summary: The life and times of Leonard H. McCoy MD/PhD continues on, in ways he had never contemplated as remotely possible. Nearing the end of their first five year mission, Leo takes Jim home to Georgia for Christmas 2262 which falls just before Jim’s 30th birthday. Written for [livejournal.com profile] space_wrapped for prompt #46, which asked for Christmas at the McCoy family home, sap and lots of it.

Author’s Note: Switch verse, based in the ST:XI universe, but strongly influenced by all canon ST-verses. Lazarus is the fourth story in the Switch-verse, and yes, there is a story missing, sorry! You don’t have to be familiar with the previous stories, but it will probably help.

is up as a downloadable one-shot at the AO3, Touch.
ceres_libera: (Mcoy_by_xtitania)
I feel rather silly posting this, but since it's one of the most common questions I receive, I decided to risk looking silly. Switch is now available as a download in one go. Warning: this is an almost 500 page long file in most e-formats: Switch at the AO3, and I almost broke the AO3 trying to upload it in three parts to conform to their character limits. However, it's there, and I believe that it works, so ... have at it! The Masterpost has also been updated.

ETA: If you downloaded before 2:00 GMT on March 7, 2011, you should go back and grab it again. There were html errors everywhere. Sorry! Also, if you see more mistakes, please let me know.

Title: "Trespass"
Author: [livejournal.com profile] ceres_libera
Rating: R for language and sexual expression
Summary: After five years of friendship, and nearly that long in unrequited love, Leonard McCoy can still be surprised by Jim Kirk. And this time? That’s a good thing. A fill for this prompt from the buckle-up meme.
Canon: ST:XI/AOS-verse one shot.
Characters: Kirk/McCoy
Warnings: 4.400 words, give or take
Disclaimers: Not mine, Paramount. All hail Roddenberry, and Abrams.
Notes: A belated trifle for Valentine’s Day 2011. I hope the OP enjoys, and that all of our NZ friends are safe.

Edited since its original posting, since somehow, I managed to cut off an edit at the end. :: face palms ::

Summary: How Bones resolved to stop cursing, a fill for [livejournal.com profile] lindmere’s prompt on the Resolutions Flashfic Challenge at [livejournal.com profile] jim_and_bones. Cleaned up and fleshed out since the original posting.
Canon: ST:XI/AOS-verse, but lives in the AU-ville begun in Unexpected
Characters: Kirk/McCoy
Warnings: 1000-ish words; previous dental warnings still in force*.
Disclaimers: Not mine, Paramount. All hail Roddenberry, and Abrams. And Happy New Year!

Just doing a bit of housekeeping to make it easier to find things in these here parts, while I try to blast through my writer's block, and contemplate the prompts over at [livejournal.com profile] space_married [livejournal.com profile] space_wrapped* and whether or not I should bite the bullet and commit to one of them. I must admit, I do love holiday stories ...

And yes, I am trying to wrestle the next part of the Switch-verse into compliance, but it is wily and uncooperative.

*Edited for malaprop-ishness.

Title: "10 Seconds in Heaven"
Author: [livejournal.com profile] ceres_libera
Rating: R mostly for language and adult concepts, I guess
Summary: Based on this Prompt at the [livejournal.com profile] buckleup_meme: First time sex in fic is always magic and rainbows and perfect ... I want bad, awkward first time sex. So … de-anoning for blame credit?
Canon: ST:XI/AOS-verse.
Characters: Kirk/McCoy
Notes: Re-edited since 1st posting. ~1200 words. Not even close to being in the same universe as Switch.
Warnings: Totally silly, and should probably not be read by anyone.
Disclaimers: I'm totally sure Paramount will want nothing to do with this story. Seriously. In any case, it all belongs to Paramount, JJ Abrams, and the great Roddenberry. Except for this story, which is all me.

Title: "Touch 2/2"
Author: [livejournal.com profile] ceres_libera
Rating: R to NC-17
Characters: Kirk/McCoy
Canon: ST:XI/AOS-verse, but strongly influenced by all canon ST-verses.
Disclaimers: It all belongs to Paramount, JJ Abrams, and the great Roddenberry. Except for this story, which is all me.

Summary: However, as far as touch was concerned? He was a connoisseur. In fact, in some circles, Jim Kirk was considered a bit of a savant on the subject … until he met the exception. Because there's always an exception to prove the rule. Touch is a Switchverse-inverse story.

Notes: Touch is a Switchverse-inverse story, and builds on that story, so some things may make more sense if you've read it. It takes place a few months after the Switch: Epilogue, on or about the 4th month of 2259, or a year after the Enterprise begins its five-year mission. Sorry guys, but this is a discrete story, although it will build into the next Switch-verse story, which is mission-based. No promises on how long that one will be. Or, you know, when it will start.

Still, this story is likely to be only 2-3 parts, no 50 chapters plus Epilogue epics.

I think.

P.S. I'm looking for icons of Bones touching Jim. Clues?
